client.

'Digest it' is a new startup that promotes the use of local biogas to farmers with at least two cows in Arusha, Tanzania. By providing information, building plans, and support, we aim to help these farmers take the first steps toward building biodigesters. This project was organized by my study program and the Hanze East Africa Hub, and it is managed by Richard Benes.

problem.

Over 80% of the population in Tanzania relies on biomass for their daily needs. While this might not seem like a problem at first, the primary form of biomass used is charcoal, which is harmful both to personal health and the environment. Digest It's mission is to reduce the use of harmful biomass and promote more affordable and sustainable biodigesters, helping the people of Arusha, Tanzania, lead greener, cheaper, and, above all, healthier lives. The challenge we faced was that there was nothing—no name, no brand, no website—leaving us free to design everything from the ground up.

My role in the group was to create a complete brand book. This was my first time making one, and it made me fall in love with branding.

solution.

Many residents are unfamiliar with what a biodigester is, its benefits, and how to build and maintain one. It is our responsibility to clearly communicate this to our target audience. We achieved this through a comprehensive media ecosystem designed to: reach, convince, and guide the target group in building a biodigester. The materials in this ecosystem include an animation, helpful signs, informative brochures, a website, a building plan, and a primary school workshop. In the second phase, we also developed a physical and interactive interface for the school workshop. A brand book is essential for creating a consistent and recognizable brand. It helps communicate the brand's values and build trust with consumers. For Digest It, we created a complete brand style guide. Below are images from the guide, persona's based on our target group and a website designed by Servais Schut who followed my brandbook.
